I got this photo from the lovely Amy from Giggleberry Creations of the Jingle Sox Amy bought for her parents. They were a custom item, Amy chose the fabrics, and I think they turned out great! They had an early family Christmas so will be able to enjoy them for a few more weeks. I think they look lovely hanging on the end of their bed! Thanks so much for the photo Amy!




I just made this candy cane holder - although until I get some Candy canes it is a pen holder :)!

Cute tags and New Sox...

I am buried in my studio again.. The orders are rolling in for Jingle Sox, and I am having so much fun doing what I love! I made these super cute tags for a customer's Jingle Sox, I love the pink, I hope they do!



And a more traditional colour...



All the old favorites are still selling well.... they do look lovely on my sister's fire place don't they!...







But I am still loving me an Aussie Bush Christmas!!!

My Grandbug's first time at the beach...

Yayy! Summer is well on it's way and we are loving the sunshine! The best part of living here in Perth is our beautiful beaches, and as we live 5 minutes away that is where alot of our time is spent. Angel and Ben took Khye for the first time the other day and he loved it!... well except for the part with the waves :)!

Got my rashy and boardies on so I'm ready to go Mum and Dad!

Inspiration..

I am such a lucky girl, I have the most wonderful customers who are sooo sweet - just take a look at this precious little angel! This is Colin, his mama commissioned me to design him a Jingle Sock for his first Christmas. I knew it had to be very special, just like him! Ooohhh, look at that face, don't you just want to scoop him up and smother him with kisses!!! I can't look at his sweet little face without smiling!


Colin gave me such inspiration, I found the perfect fabric then added a little extension to his cuff - giving him an extra Jingly Jingle Sock!

Wow!!

The orders are rolling inn!!

Jingle Sox are going off again this year, and it's just the 1st day of November!!
I have been online for nearly two days trying to sort through orders and questions. I am having a ball with it all, coz I just love to create!!, and it's even more fun when you are working with your customers - and my customers are so fun!!

I have finallys set up some listing in my etsy store to personalise my stockings. I can put any name in any size that a customer wants on the cuff of the stocking or I can make a cute little name tag that attaches to the stocking - what do you think?

I do have other fonts and plenty of embroidery floss colours and can make the lettering as large as the customer likes.



These cute little tags go well on a busy fabric cuff - it is nice to have something a bit different sometimes and this is my different :)!

Look what I made!

Tonight I made some lace with my wonderful, gorgeous, fabulous Bernina, that I love love, love!! What a machine she is! I know alot of you have embroidery machines but I have only had mine for a little bit and am still learning all the little tricks! Today I learnt to make a lace heart! Although I wish I had taken more photos of the process, I might do another and take them from beginning to end!

Anyway all I needed was this - embroidery thread and soluble vilene, which I set in the hoop - 2 pieces of it, double thickness!

Still going!




All finished!

Then you run it under water so that the soluble vilene disolves, - which it does... wow! Then dry it off (lie it flat on a towel and pat dry or gently dry with a hairdryer) and
Voila!! you get a gorgeous lace heart!


Just wanted to show you some of the lovely colours Michael Miller has out in their fairy frost range - and there are heaps more, gorgeous lilacs and purples, yellow, lemons, pinks in every shade ..pretty much every colour of the rainbow! Hmmm, what will I make with these!?



and here is another Jingle Sock, in Crystal shimmery pinks and whites - I have more to come and lots of new things to share, but rght now it's off to bed for me!





And above are these quilted sox I made that look a bit more 'country' style. I made a similar pair for Amy at Giggleberry Creations for a gift she needed and she was thrilled to bits with them! They were a similar style but in Dark reds/greens, the Primitive Country look. Anyway, what do you think? I would love some feedback!

Something exciting his way comes........

I am SOOOO excited, Jingle sox will be featuring in my favorite Quilting shop here in Perth, Homespun Workshop will be stocking some of my Jingle Sox - Woo-Hoo!! So if you are near Willagee, head down and check out their beautiful fabrics and quilts and maybe join up for a class or two!, these ladies are the bomb!!! So friendly, and so helpful, it is like walking back in time, the way the greet you and the service they give - they really care about you and what you are looking for, and they love fabric too so if you are a fabric-a-holic (like me!) you will be in good company!!

You can even sign up for the Block of the Month with Mary Bird, her beautiful quilt patterns are available for sale there also! Many of you have been asking me about my Mod Scallops Quilt blocks (yes...! Iknow..., I have to get it sewned to gether and finished, or actually both of them finished now that I have made one for my Mumma too hehe!!!!) Here it is, yet to have the sashing, edging and blnding finished - and quilting done of course, I can't wait to finish this one, I am going to stipple it myself!!


Anyhoo, I will take some photos of the shop, the fabrics (swoon!!), and the workshop area when I take in the Jingle Sox in the next couple of days - and you can all drool over the fabric, and the gorgeous shop!!

Will have a few new designs finished this weekend so will have some new pics of them soon also!! But until then, enjoy a few bright colours, the Disney Princess ones are too cute!!.. I just wish I was 7 again!! hehe!

12 Weeks of Christmas..

I absolutely love, love, love Christmas and while visiting Diana's gorgeous blog today I have found Keelie's wonderful 12 Weeks of Christmas fun and giveaways!!.

Each Sunday for the next 12 weeks there will be a different Christmas related topic for us to blog about. When we have created our posts for the week we link it up to Keelie's blog so that we can get in the spirit together. Now, on to the first TWOC topic, My Christmas List...

This year I am looking for simple and sweet from my loved ones..

1. Anything pretty, whimsical and fun to sit on the lovely new shelf that Mr Deekie Belle has put up for me in my studio - vintage toys, Alphabet letters, cards and ornaments are my favorite and will make wonderful addition to Deekie Belle Designs decor!!
2. Of course books make the list, anything from Koorong Christian Bookshop or alternatively a gift voucher for Dymocks would be lovely!
3. A New Pie dish, I have one but it is vey big and sometimes you just want to make a normal size pie :)! And just a hint, I love my mum's new pie dish with the holes in the base - fabulous pie dish!!
3. Tea cup and Saucer: vintage, flowers, fruit - you get the picture :)
4. Handmade goodies, hey, bake me a cake or a batch of cookies or fudge and I will love you forever!!!!
5. and there is always, Fabric, and.. fabric, ...oh and how about some Fabric....... It is MY list after all :)!! (Gift vouchers for Homespun Quilting store will also be kissed and hugged and even placed under my pillow with love :)!!!!)

I am sure this list will be made longer as the weeks go by so stay tuned!!

Thank you beautiful sister...

Sometimes life gets a bit hard and we get sad... yep, sad is the right word. I am so blessed that at times like these I have people around me like my beautiful sister Sue who will bring me gorgeous Irises.. and Lime Brulee.... and a listening, caring ear... and a solution to what is saddening me. Thank you Sue - I love you to the moon and back!

Busy week

It's been a busy time here at Deekie Belle Designs, I have been working on some new designs and spending some much needed time getting some spring cleaning done. Although with all the rain we are getting here it doesn't feel much like spring!

Went through my fabric stash and tucked alot of it into nice tidy crates but kept some of my favorites on the shelves..


Enjoyed making another 'Don't Look Now!' design cushion - (complete with my newly aquired trapunto skills- woo-hoo!!)

Here's a shot of it all cut out and ready to be ironed and stitched..


And of course, I spent some time with my gorgeous grandson - here he is getting a bath from his daddy,




Will be back soon with some more photos, have finished some Jingle Sox and just need to get some good pictures.

My Mum and I...

Alora has started to scan some old pictures onto the computer for me. Here are a couple of my mum and I, in the first I am a couple of months old and the second one is of my first birthday...

Brain Fuzzz......

I have bad brain fuzz. I used to be so sharp, and quick, I had a memory like a steel trap. Names, dates, faces, times - I remembered everything, Mr Deekie Belle used to be completely baffled by it... He was always like - "how in the heck can you remember that??!" But in the last few months I have felt a few things slip and have become a little,.. lets say, blurry...
Anyway, I got quite worried that it was something serious... but discovered that I'm just going through 'peri-menopause'. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is the stage of your life where you are past 'childbirth' but pre -menopausal.
Some of the symptoms of peri-menopause are:

Hot flushes and/or cold flushes (check),
Brain fog (check)
Weight gain (check),
Feelings of Anxiety (check),
Increased tension in muscles (check),
Breast tenderness (check),
Tingling in the extremities (check),
Increase in allergies (check),
Trouble sleeping through the night (check)
and the list goes on.

I have discovered that this can last up to 8 to 10 years and then, you get actual menopause. Some of the symptoms of this are:
Mood swings,
Sudden tears
Breast tenderness,
Hot Flushes and/or cold flushes
Weight gain
Trouble sleeping through the night
Brain fog
Increase in allergies
and the list goes on... and on....

hmmmm, I just love being a woman! :)


Anyway, at least I had a good brain for a while...
