Fabric and Food on a friday night ....

Made myself a bottle of

homemade

Vanilla Essence

a few weeks ago..

it has been fermenting nicely, till tonight,  I used it for the first time..

Vanilla Cuppy-cakes were on the menu
but I didn't have any patty pans left so I used muffin papers...

They worked out fine!!
Topped with yummy vanilla buttercream
and edible glitter!!!

Mmmmm-mm!

they were yummy!

(and the essence was perfect!)

Lots of sox nearly done,

and

this is only half of what I have been working on in the last week or so!!

(busy, busy, busy!!)

And I wanted to show you my gorgeous Robyn Pandolph fabrics that I got last week,

Scarborough Fair on top (Pastels)
and
Boxwood House on the bottom (deeper colours)

Aren't they just beautiful :)!

(and if you would like the recipe for the vanilla essence let me know!!)

French Lace Batiks

Remember those gorgeous French Lace Batiks I got way back before Christmas!
(Remember?)

Well, I finally pulled them and out and began a bit of applique with them...

(of course I used my Sizzix!)

(and my Tim Holtz Fleur De Lis die again -I know, I know!!!)

I decided to do a bit of thread painting on the applique..

It gave it a real boho look...

I am making table runners and I am pretty pleased with the result of this one!
it's for the songstress..

I have been meaning to make her one for her new furniture!!
Hope she likes it!!

Hugs!

And the fruitcake winner is......

Thank you to everyone who entered my Moda Fruitcake Fatquarter Giveaway!
I used the random number generator to draw the winner!
.... then I learned how to take a screen shot!
Congratulations to
Bev C. from Kainga Happenings
who left comment number 3!

This will be on it's way to you as soon as I get your address ;)!

and speaking of 'the' Fruitcake....
The fruit for my parent's in law's 50th Wedding Anniversary cake has been soaking for 5 days,
...I just keep adding more brandy

I have been so busy making Jingle Sox that I haven't had much time for anything else!
Our darling son, The Rock Star came and helped me out,
He made the cake for me, bless his heart...

(should have put an apron on him, he got covered in it ;)! )

He did a beautiful job!

9 hours later....

Time to poke some holes in it and add more brandy,
then wrap it nice and tight till it's time to be decorated!

Back tomorrow with some lovely new sox!
Hugs,

Anyone else having trouble with Etsy?!!

Oh dear!

It is my busiest time of year and my etsy shop is busier than it has ever been!

But it seems that everyone is on etsy!!

I have spent the last two days clicking, and re-clicking, refreshing and stressing!

I did have a little virus and thought it was, but my son-in-law fixed that for me tonight and it's still happening!

I still can't seem to stay on etsy!

is anyone having the same problem?

I am trying to send photos, and list items and send messages and keep being disconnected!

Up pops a message saying
"The website is too busy to show the webpage"

Well that is wonderful for etsy,
but no good for me, or my sweet customers!
If you are trying to order, or waiting for a response, please be patient
I will keep clicking till I get to you!!
And don't forget to enter my fabric giveaway :)
here is the Fruitcakey goodnessssss!!

..........................................
And here is a pic of the Bunny from the weekend !
Isn't she divine.......

I got her one of these for Christmas,
in teeny tiny size!
Aren't they adorable!!
I would show you where it came from but
... but i can't get on Etsy :) !

Back soon with more!

Makes Me Happy Mondays ..

Welcome to Makes Me Happy Mondays on Tuesday here at Deekie Belle Designs..
apologies for my tardiness ;)
.......................................
I took these photos of our daughter the model today,
she needed some hair and make-up shots for work and I was delighted to try out
my new camera on them..
I am no professional,
not by a long shot,
but I think they turned out pretty good!
My new camera certainly makes me happy,
as does our gorgeous daughter, every day ;)

Doesn't she do great hair !

..................................
A few weeks ago I embarked upon a new eating plan (ie: a diet),
I seriously need to get some weight off and I started out very well, shedding a few kilos a week.
Then hubby took me to Baskin Robbins....
bad, bad move!
Anyone who knows me knows that ice cream makes me happy :o) ...
But these guys, well, it is not enough that they make Peanut Butter 'n' Chocolate ice cream..
Their new flavour of the month 'Baseball Nut'
is a delicious blend of creamy vanilla ice cream, black rasberry coulis and heaps of cashews!
Gaaahhhhhhh!
I shall have just a little
..... of both :o)

...............................

And what would be a Makes me happy Monday without a pic of some new fabric..
I have ordered a big load of fabric,
part of which is Basic Grey's new line for Moda that's called 'Fruitcake'
Here's a little bit of it that's just arrived,
how sweet are those little holly and ivy berries!

..............................
The bug was very sick over the weekend, he has a double ear infection,
poor little man, it's so awful when they are unwell....

but the antibiotics the doctor prescribed are starting to do their work and he is on the mend,
Antibiotics, though not always necessary, in this case,
made me,
and the bug,
very happy!
..........................

Last, but certainly not least,
I am happy that the Bunny has perfected her "Blue Steel"
(have you seen Zoolander :o) ?!)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
I remembered you all in my prayers!
.......................
TODAY WE FIND OUT WHAT THE SONGSTRESS AND HER HUBBY ARE HAVING!
SO EXCITED!
WILL IT BE A BOY, OR A GIRL??
.........................
Big hugs!

Makes me happy Monday...

My sister Sue makes me happy...
She couldn't be more loving and supportive,
and although she is not one who is all mushy-mushy, kissy-huggy like I am,
she has a heart of gold and loves in a huge way!
She will do anything for anyone, her kind heart shines through her beautiful smile..
And she gets me, totally!
Together, years ago, we went through one of the most terrifying experiences that sister's could go through,
but I think that it has bonded us beyond all else.
(I will share more on that one day, when the time is right..)
.......................................
Sue and her family recently moved into a new home on 6
beautiful acres of lush bushland..
Their new home came complete with a grand house with verandahs all round, a fully self contained granny (or aunty!) flat, Artist's Studio, swimming pool, spa, sauna and grass tennis courts!
It is amazing !
Birds, tranquility, acres and acres of trees!
I have been dying to get over there and take some photos with my new camera but have been so busy with Jingle Sox orders that I have not had time..
Here are a couple of teasers from Sue's...

I hope to have more for you of indoors and outdoors soon!
...........................................
And I just wanted to show you my new little line of Basic Grey for Moda .
I have more coming but these ornaments arrived today and they just lit me up!!
New fabric always makes me happy!
They will go with the Moda grunge basics

arn't they cute!

and of course in the maraschino

You know what else makes me happy, my amazing Mr Deekie Belle, he has been such a soldier for me since I have gotten busy with my orders. When he gets home from work he does all the washing, folding, dishes, vacuuming, and even he even dusts for me
oh.my.gosh.
Do you have any idea how much that makes me happy!!
There is nothing hotter than a man who cleans ;)!

Back soon with more!
Hugs!

Fixed my 'No Reply'

I am learning new bloggy things every day,

Today the lovely Teresa from 'All Thing's Vintage' showed me how to fix up my profile
so when I leave a comment on one of your blogs you can send me a direct reply via email !

Gah! two years of blogging and I didn't know that ;)!

Teresa also directed me to chookyblue's blog.
In her left hand sidebar she shares lots of other great tips for bloggers...
That's one of the things I love about the blogging community,
besides making new friends and learning heaps, there is always someone who is there with a kind word and a helping hand.
Thanks Teresa!
Now to use one of Chookyblue's etiquitte tips,
here are some photos for your enjoyment!...
{or maybe just my enjoyment :) !}

My sweet batiks arrived today..

Hello,
