Busy week

It's been a busy time here at Deekie Belle Designs, I have been working on some new designs and spending some much needed time getting some spring cleaning done. Although with all the rain we are getting here it doesn't feel much like spring!

Went through my fabric stash and tucked alot of it into nice tidy crates but kept some of my favorites on the shelves..

Enjoyed making another 'Don't Look Now!' design cushion - (complete with my newly aquired trapunto skills- woo-hoo!!)

Here's a shot of it all cut out and ready to be ironed and stitched..

And of course, I spent some time with my gorgeous grandson - here he is getting a bath from his daddy,

Will be back soon with some more photos, have finished some Jingle Sox and just need to get some good pictures.
Hope you are all well,
big hugs

Brain Fuzzz......

I have bad brain fuzz. I used to be so sharp, and quick, I had a memory like a steel trap. Names, dates, faces, times - I remembered everything, Mr Deekie Belle used to be completely baffled by it... He was always like - "how in the heck can you remember that??!" But in the last few months I have felt a few things slip and have become a little,.. lets say, blurry...
Anyway, I got quite worried that it was something serious... but discovered that I'm just going through 'peri-menopause'. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is the stage of your life where you are past 'childbirth' but pre -menopausal.
Some of the symptoms of peri-menopause are:

Hot flushes and/or cold flushes (check),
Brain fog (check)
Weight gain (check),
Feelings of Anxiety (check),
Increased tension in muscles (check),
Breast tenderness (check),
Tingling in the extremities (check),
Increase in allergies (check),
Trouble sleeping through the night (check)
and the list goes on.

I have discovered that this can last up to 8 to 10 years and then, you get actual menopause. Some of the symptoms of this are:
Mood swings,
Sudden tears
Breast tenderness,
Hot Flushes and/or cold flushes
Weight gain
Trouble sleeping through the night
Brain fog
Increase in allergies
and the list goes on... and on....

hmmmm, I just love being a woman! :)

Anyway, at least I had a good brain for a while...

Hope you enjoyed this, I thought it was great!!
Hugs to you all!

Ps - I am wanting a new design for my blog ....if anyone know of someone who could help me out please give me a shout xo!

Another Lady bug with trapunto, and more of our own little Bug...and the Band!

Hi guys,

I have been a bit under the weather lately but got some sewing done last night, made another lady bug pillow, this time in pink and blue and I did trapunto for the first time too on it! woo-hoo!! Thanks goodness for youtube, that is where I learnt how to do it, not sure if you can see the effect of it in the pics but it does give it alot more depth and a much nicer finish - I am very happy with it! again, thanks to the gorgeous Kellie who took the time to email me and explain to me what trapunto was - she really is a treasure!!

Hubby and I have also been out a few times to listen to our son's band, they played on both Saturday and Sunday night on the weekend and were fantastic - we love you Copious! My darling sis looked after the bug for the model and the other rock star, but after Sunday night's gig we went back to their place to take over until they got home.
The model wanted to spend a little time with her man after the gig which was lovely..
I snapped a couple of pics of him while he was in his cot, watching his winnie-the-pooh mobile....

I took this one of the band on Sunday night, and couldn't believe it when I put it up on the computer - looks like the Lord is shining right down on our boy!!

..It looks like the rock star is really short doesn't it, but he isn't!

 He's 6'1"!
It's just that Noddy, the lead singer is about 6'6" and Blake the basist is 6'5",
the other rock star completes the front line up at 6'2", and Dave the drummer is 6'... so rather a ominus looking bunch, but really the sweetest guys you could ever meet, It's so true what they say about not judging a book by it's cover ;)!
(Although I am sure they want to keep their tough guy image and might be a bit embarrased by one of the mum's blabbing about them on her blog..... so shhhhhh!!)

Anyway, must get some sewing done, designing some new Jingle Sox and have a few other things on the go! Have a great week my lovelies!
Hugs to you all!

Sewing for my little bug...

Hello my lovelies!
Hope you are all going well! I have been busying myself in my studio since we got back from down south... I did a nice spring clean, which always makes me feel better, and have been doing some sewing for my grandbug... made him a couple of little outfits so far, with a few more on the way, I did pants and an appliqued t-shirt, with a little train driver style hat and a bib. The Model and I saw some really cute hats similar to these in Pumpkin patch for little boys but they didn't really go with any of the PP outfits, The Model likes the co-ordinated look so I had a go at making a pattern for the hat and it turned out okay I think... (although the first bib I made was a little too big)
I love his cute DC shoes! (a present from Aunty D...)

Oops... blinded by the flash!

that's better!

Finished this little surfboard set last night - made shorts instead of pants and the bib is a much better size :)! I am sure that he is gonna be on a surfboard as soon as weather permits, Mr Deekie Belle and the kids all surf and so if Poppy has his way he will be surfing before he can walk!

I would love some feedback on the outfits, and thinking of perhaps offering them in my etsy and madeit shop.
Hugs to you all!

Happy birthday to the man I adore..

Happy birthday my darling, you are my love, my protector, my knight in shining armour, the man of my dreams and my best friend.... not to mention the most gorgeous man I have ever seen - I still get butterflies when you walk into a room!
I adore you!

................................................................................

Also wanted to share this with you, my lovely, and very clever friend Elaine from Tinker Verve makes these super cute sprinkles jars, with one of her soldered charms on them - isn't it adorable! ...It belongs in the kitchen but I couldn't help put it up with my little stash of
guterman beads for a picture... I am sure if you ask nicely Elaine will take orders ;)! And you can see behind the sprinkles a little gift Elaine sent me, it's a little cowboy shirt sleeve made into a tissue holder - I love it, it's so sweet! Brings new meaning to the saying 'tuck a tissue in your sleeve'! Also bought another adorable charm necklet from Elaine, will post a pic of that soon!

Please pray....

I am in the country with my darling at the moment, we are visiting with Deekie. It is the middle of the night and pouring with rain... I can't sleep so I came online for a bit, to check in and visit all my sweet online buddies.. But now my heart is crying for a beautiful young couple. I have peeked at their blog a few times as it has the same name as another of my sweet friends, but Lindsay and Jeremy are going through the most heartbreaking thing that any parent can go through, the loss of a child. Their precious little son Ayden, at only 4 months old, has gone home to be with the Lord. Their hearts are breaking. Please pray for them.

My Bug....

Took some photos of my little grandbug today, I love him so much, just want to give him smooshy kisses and cuddles all day long! Sorry for the picture overload but I can't help myself! He is just learning to sit up so we sat him on my cutting table and snapped a few pics of him finding his socks .... I just love the faces he pulls, he does that curly lip thing to perfection!

Also got a better photo of my ladybug pillow...

Back soon with some sewing news...

Lady bugs...

Hello my lovelies!
Hope you are well and God is blessing you.. (If not, just ask Him, He will!)

I made this lady bug pillow last yesterday, just finished the binding so thought I would post a photo, although it is night time now and I can't get a decent shot of it as the colours won't show well with my camera flash... I always seem to blame the camera, but it is probably more to do with the terrible photographer ;)!

Hugs to you all!

My little Grandbug...

I have been watching my little Grandbug this past few days as the model was asked to do some work for her company. I love having him so much, he is just the joy in my heart!
Look at that smile... just kills me!

My little chubber boy, he loves playing with his Mama's phone! He likes the music it makes when he closes it!
Do you like his cute beanie I bought him -!

Also, I have been trying to learn how to use my new fancy-shmanzy scanner, I finally uploaded a photo with it

***all my family clapping***,

anyway, I was using this photo of the glamour girl while I was learning.
It is a bit over-exposed and I think it had a flash on at the time so I decided to "picnic" it in Flickr while it was there!! Ta-Da!

And am ready to send of the personal pastel pillow to Renee who won my giveaway - the pillow is for her daughter Genesis. I also finished one for my best friends little girl', Gracie, she came over today with her mum and picked it up and she loved it!!
Renee, yours is the one with the Pink G, and it will be on it's way in the morning!!

Have a great day!

Fingerprint Friday and my baby turns 18...

I am joining in this wonderful idea from Pampering Becki
There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:

I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you I can see the fingerprints of God And I know its true You're a masterpiece That all creation quietly applauds And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

I took this photo this evening - isn't she beautiful!
Our darling baby the glamour girl turned 18 today - she is our youngest and this has been a really reflective day for me. It is so hard when your baby isn't a baby anymore, according to the laws of the land anyway.... I still see her as the child she once was, she still holds the same sweetness and innocence. Not innocence in the conventional way, but the kind that looks at the world with wonder and awe, her heart is untarnished by the kind of things that can make us cynical and untrusting. The way she looks up to her older siblings fills my heart, she adores them unconditionally, and nothing they can, or ever will do, will change that..
The glamour girl is the kind of person that would literally give you the shirt of her back, if you wanted it, or just because it looks better on you.. and she would give you her last penny if she saw a need. She is not impressed by riches or power, everyone is the same in her eyes and she makes everyone she meets feel like they are the most important person in the world. And her laugh.... it is the stuff of legends. In recent years we moved her to a new school, she did not want to leave her old one as she was a bit shy so she was finding it hard to get to know people at her new school.. until they heard her laugh..... then she became known as the girl with the coolest laugh ever, kids even starting trying to copy it - and that is what it is - the best laugh you have ever heard - I honestly think that when my time here on earth is done, and I go to heaven, and I hear God laugh, I will know where the glamour girl got hers from,
From her heavenly Father, I think she has the Lord's laugh.... Its beautiful, and warm, and full of life, and hearing it makes you feel good, even when you feel bad. It can heal what ails you, and it comforts you when are lonely, and it is the most beautiful contagious laugh ever!

I love you my darling and I see in you the finger prints of God, in everything you do - you are his daughter, our daughter and everyones friend,
Dad and I thank God so much that we got to be your parents
you are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. I love you infinity. Mummyxoxox

Feliz dress

I finished this little 'Feliz' dress yesterday. It is a Studio Tantrum pattern. I used the euro fabric called Elfi (I think it is by Hilco)for the little overdress apron and a little rainbow of Holly Holderman Frosted Dots for the ruffely-fluffely underdress. I really love Holly's fabrics, they are so pretty and the colours are such a perfect blend. The Feliz is a little difficult to follow, it needs quite a bit of interpretation because, as is common with most of the Farbenmix/Tantrum patterns, there are no pictures and just a couple of little drawings on the pattern. I am also a little indifferent about the front bodice, not sure it looks too neat with the curved neckline and underarms - I would like to alter it a bit and make the lines a bit cleaner - let me know what you think, I would love to know!

Hugs!

I am finally back!

Hello my sweet friends!
Please forgive my bloggy absence, my family has all been ill with the flu and other related thing and it has been crazy here again. Our son the rockstar got the swine flu but he seemed to get off quite lightly - two days in bed and he was as good as new, Mr Deekie Belle and the Glamour girl however got 'normal' flu and they were ill for a few weeks. That one was a shocker!

Anyway, I am nearly finished a post with all the winners of my giveaway and some pictures, but I have to go and rub some salve on Mr Deekie Belle's back now, and then I must sleep! I will be back tomorrow with lots of news!
Hugs
Jen xoxo
